一個彎又一個彎，汽車在彎道向上爬升，公路的外面就成絕壁，河從兩山的峽谷向後流去。生命中第一次獲得這樣的際遇，高原的風從峽谷鼓蕩而出，一個漂泊者，從南方到京都，從京都到黃河，沿著黃河到了高原。
我在西寧曾想過到貴德去吃一罐燉雪雞湯的，沒想到追求雪雞湯的道路如此險峻。多少年了，多少個夢想，在激越的冰雹中行進，升華。這是我第二次上高原，對高原仍然深感神秘。已經很少寫作詩歌了，在鄭州黃河邊上時，聽到昌耀去世的消息，我認為昌耀是中國惟一的大詩人。

幕阜山脈的植被以800米分界，上為山胡椒、胡枝子、臺灣松、錐栗、化香、抱樹次生林，下為毛竹、馬尾松、鉤栗、大葉青岡、雲山桐、南方紅豆杉、穗花杉、南方白蘭花混交林，主要糧食作物為稻、麥、紅薯、玉米和豆類。
在天臺山，我見到過活化石的植物扁柏…
