時至20世紀末，從天上給性生物學掉下一個大餡餅來。可惜知者不多，且細細道來。
當全世界被“克隆”鬧得沸沸揚揚的時候（不過我總是懷疑，至少在中國，這恐怕與傳媒的“炒作”有很大關系），人們並沒有註意到一些電腦制造商的豪言壯語。他們宣稱：現在已經可以用電腦創造出一個視覺上和聽覺上的性的“虛擬現實”，就是利用多媒體技術，不僅使人看到和聽到栩栩如生的性生活場面，而且可以由觀聽者自己來指揮屏幕上的“性演員”，你讓她（他）怎樣，她（他）就會怎樣，即所謂“互動表演”(interactive…

潘綏銘：性社會學性的“虛擬現實”性文學（上）
我在做一門可能很奇怪的學問：性社會學。多年來，人們一聽，大都保持禮貌的沈默，沒什麼人來刨根問底。可我卻已經在重點大學裏講了15年這門課了。學生也是“人們”，所以我總是到一個學期快結束的時候，才能聽到他們提問：它是什麼？還有一個潛提問，只有兩個學生說出來過：它有什麼用？
它是什麼？就是100多年來，人們不再把“性”僅僅看作生理現象和“床上事”的歷史。它有什麼用？這段歷史，就是它的目標和結果。
