筆者覺得有必要再次把維爾納封霍夫高先生拜訪, 此人五十五歲, “在聯邦國防軍工作過一段時間, 我憑著建築行家的經驗為之效勞”。如今在他祖傳的湖中堡壘側翼開了一個小小的建築師事務所, “只為和平目的及建造住房服務”。封霍夫高( 要知道, 他沒有主動說自己死氣沈沈, 不過有可能這樣做) 是個溫文爾雅、頭髮花白的老光棍, 據筆者淺見, 他開辦這個“建築師事務所”只是好有一個借口, 可以一連數小時觀賞城堡池塘里的天鵝, 觀看佃戶們地里地外的活動, 在田間散步( 確切地說: 在甜菜田里) 。每逢有一架星式戰鬥機飛過時, 他才擡頭朝天空惡狠狠地瞪上一眼。他避而不與住在府中的弟弟交往, “因為他背著我用我的名義在我當時領導的部門里搞了幾筆交易”。封霍夫高稍微發胖而敏感的臉上顯出憤懣的表情, 不是個人恩怨, 而是一種抽象的義憤。筆者覺得他是在借酒澆愁, 他喝的那種酒如果喝多了, 是最危險的: 陳雪利酒。至少筆者發現垃圾堆里的空雪利酒瓶多得驚人,…
