春天即將過去，夏天就要來臨了。南方的驕陽，非常灼人。在最熱的幾個小時裏，她躺在樹蔭裏，或是下去到涼爽的檸檬樹叢深處。或者，有時她會順著小小的溝底，在溪谷林蔭的掩映下朝家走去。孩子一聲不吭地跑來跑去，就像一只專註於生活的小動物。…

二月底突然炎熱起來。微風拂過，杏花繽紛，如粉紅的雪花。絲一般的紫紅小銀蓮花開得正盛，日光蘭打著朵兒，而大海則像矢車菊一樣蔚藍。
朱麗葉心無旁騖，什麼也不關心。現在，她一天的絕大部分時間都和孩子在陽光下裸露著，這就是她所要做的一切。
有時她走到海裏去洗澡，不過更經常的是她在陽光照得到的溪谷裏閑蕩，而別人卻看不見她。有時她看見一個農民牽著條驢，他也看見她了。可她如此坦然、平靜地跟孩子一起坐著，治愈靈魂也治愈肉體，太陽治愈力的聲望已經傳播到了人間，因此沒有引起更多的興奮。…
