Nomadic Narratives

1.Order is often considered crucial for understanding stories, but this notion can be challenged. Maria Tamboukou from the University of East London has introduced the concept of nomadic narratives. These narratives don't necessarily follow a strict chronological order with clear beginnings and endings. Instead, they meander through various literary styles and autobiographical accounts, blurring the lines between genres.

2.Narrative analytics frequently emphasizes the dynamic process through which stories evolve, focusing on how meaning emerges and narratives take shape rather than adhering strictly to their sequential structure. There's a notable shift in attention from merely representing experiences to understanding the effects of power dynamics, knowledge relations, and desires in play. Analysis now pays close attention to the fluidity and openness of narratives, acknowledging the virtual forces that influence them, as well as the significance of silences and unspoken elements within them.

3.Narration revolves around the interconnectedness of experiences and relationships. Traditionally, it hasn't involved the researcher's personal identification with their historical subject. Rather, it's been about the spatial and temporal connections that lead one to recognize that their present as a researcher comprises a series of realized moments, enveloped by numerous potentialities emerging from the study.

Senses of a Place

It had come to me not in a sudden epiphany but with a gradual sureness, a sense of meaning like a sense of place. When you give yourself to places, they give you yourself back; the more one comes to know them, the more one seeds them with the invisible crop of memories and associations that will be waiting for you when you come back, while new places offer up new thoughts, new possibilities. Exploring the world is one of the best ways of exploring the mind, and walking travels both terrains. (Rebecca Solnit)

All Americans need a sense of place. That's what makes our physical surroundings worth caring about. (Ed McMahon)

OK, well maybe I have to get back to Judaism. In the sense that if I look at me and my forebears forever stretching back to I don't know, whenever there's no sense of place and therefore no sense of nationality. (Janet Suzman)

All great hotels should have stellar personalized service, a unique design that gives guests a sense of place, an excellent on-site restaurant, and other fantastic amenities. Obviously location is a key factor as well. (Ivanka Trump)

Lowell is my home. It is where I drew my first breath. It is where I will always derive a sense of place and a sense of belonging.(Paul Tsongas

Lap of Luxury – Origin & Meaning by Candace Osmond

What does lap of luxury mean? I can assure you it doesn’t involve a luxury lap pool or a lap-sized serving of luxury chocolates. We use this phrase in English to describe a condition of amazing comfort and extravagance. So, let’s dive into the plush cushions of this idiom, explore its origin, and look at some alternative ways to say it and how to use it in a sentence.

The idiom lap of luxury is meant to describe a state of opulence or extravagant comfort. Picture this: lounging on a sun-kissed beach, sipping cocktails, with no worries in the world. That’s the lap of luxury. It’s where many of us aspire to be, but few find ourselves.

I often think of my trip to Cuba years ago. I’d just had my second kid, and work was crazy, so the trip was well-deserved. We stayed at a five-star resort, had zero responsibilities or places to be, and food and drinks were brought to us by the pool each day. That was the lap of luxury, and I’ll never forget it!
