陳明發：張徹 ～ 一位導演，一部戲 （四）
中年以後：輪到自己選擇激情
意大利導演費裏尼在其自傳《夢是唯一的真實》中說：“電影是會動的圖案。”他覺得本身的片子較富繪畫的特質，較少文學的。然而，繪畫跟文學，許多時候不都是叠加成一體，難分彼此嗎？電影的情節與意想，說來就像一株樹。其枝幹，有的長進了我們的腦袋摺隙，有的在我們踏出戲院時便夭折了。盤入無意識的枝幹，和我們的其他閱歷與經驗疊貼、糾纏與交融，有時候甚至長成無以命名的風景。
我是想起了張徹的《金燕子》的一幕：正見銀鵬（王羽飾）揮毫題字，桌面上的紙墨已溶為整個畫面的背景，銀幕變成一面鏡框，鑲著一幅巨型古詞：
蕭然一劍天涯路…

雖千萬人：因為一份氣慨吾往矣
張徹曾首掀多種題材的影片熱潮。《獨臂刀》成為香港第一部賣過百萬港幣票房的影片後，許多文藝片導演也拍起武俠片來。當大家以為所謂武俠片或動作片，就是一二位俠士對抗著龐大的惡勢力，他轉入大場面的沖突與戰鬥，從古裝的《水滸傳》、《蕩寇誌》、《十三太保》，拍到現代的《八國聯軍》、《八道樓子》和《海軍突擊隊》。當《報仇》在亞洲影展上贏得“亞洲影帝”和“最佳導演”兩項大獎時，觀眾開始知道，武打片不一定是古裝的；民初的景觀，更有一種懷舊的氣息。…
