文化有根 創意是伴 Bridging Creativity
今日是月尾,一早,賣魚太平仔便來收賬。太平仔是東港人,在這一帶賣魚足足有四十多個年頭了。他每天天還沒亮,就去魚行喝一兩尾串仔魚(鮪),踏著腳踏車,欵乃欵乃的望山腳這邊載來,挨門逐戶,視人口多寡,切了一片,或薄或厚,稱好了,掛在人家門楣邊,然後在卡紙上記上日期價錢,悄悄的來悄悄的走。近午時,農家從田裏回來,拿下串仔魚片,或捋鹽煎,或煮蔭豉薑絲,三、五碗番薯簽飯,兩、三小塊魚,幾粒豆脯,三、五分鐘,填飽了肚皮,再飲下一、兩碗番薯簽泔,便一切無缺,不羨萬錢食,不慕方丈珍。太平仔固定每月月底收賬,主家很少對覆,太平仔總計多少就給多少。長年如此,只當過年過節,為了祭祀,纔有豬肉、雞肉上桌。豬肉照例是瞞了官府,宰了家裏飼的豬,全村分配。但官府查得緊,私宰漸漸的少了,於是城鎮上賣肉的就下鄉來了,嘴裏叨了個大海螺,ㄅㄨ──ㄅㄨ──的吹,那是賣肉的號角,人們聽到這種和法螺近似的聲音,就知道賣肉的來了。清代宦遊者,對臺灣賣肉吹螺,有很感人的記述:「賣肉者吹角,鎮日吹呼,音甚淒楚。冬來,稻穀、糖、靛,各邑輦致郡治;車音脆薄,如哀如訴,時與吹角若相和然。」(臺海使槎錄)「賣肉者沿街吹角,如塞上高秋時,難勝淒楚!」(海東札記)
於是海螺聲成了年節祭典歡慶的預奏,海螺聲等於宣告節慶的來臨,成為鄉村裏的一個特色,和城鎮上是不一樣的。
鄉村裏有時也有賣什細的人來。腳踏車後頭載了一個小玻璃櫥子,玲瓏滿目,儘賣婦女的化粧品,手裏拿著一個小銚鼓,兩邊轉著打擊出聲,另是一種風味。
此外鄉村裏再沒有訪客了,農民們就像土撥鼠般,永遠守著這一片野地。
