賞心樂事
南宋的張約齋曾把春夏秋冬四季中的每一季，劃分為孟、仲、季三個月。即正月孟春，二月仲春，三月季春。四月孟夏，五月仲夏，六月季夏。七月孟秋，八月仲秋，九月季秋。十月孟冬，十一月仲冬，十二月季冬。
在張約齋筆下，每個月都有節日、有活動，如果說正月歲時更新，是節日活動之高峰，還情有可原，可那平平常常的四月孟夏，卻也是活動不斷，好像每天都在節日之中——
初八日亦庵早齋隨詣南湖放生食糕糜
芳草亭鬥草芙蓉池賞新荷…

鐘馗已不再是那種猙獰厲鬼模樣，而是像一位胖墩墩的老官吏，端坐輿上，袖手回眸，悠然自得，只是兩只巨眼圓睜，鼻孔碩大朝天，仍顯露出神威凜凜。小妹及其侍女，則均以墨當作胭脂塗抹面頰，出人意表，妙趣橫生。但詼諧之中亦見端莊，只見小妹長裙曳地，高髻朝天，少女老婦，簇擁隨後，儼然貴人模樣。
二十余個奔走趨行的小鬼，大小胖瘦，高矮不齊，黑白分明，各具神態；或光頭，或戴帽，或側首回顧，或仰面昂首；有架輿的，有肩壺的，有扛寶劍的，有挑行裝的，有挎包裹的，有背葫蘆罐的。他們多為赤背裸體，與小妹、侍女的麗服靚裝互相映照。…
