中國古代神話與傳說 4
導語
人的自然化，即人向自然靠攏，人被自然同化，由此而產生了最早的動、植物神話與圖騰神話，後者包括在前者之中。凡是解釋動、植物來源及其特性的，也就是最初的動、植物傳說故事，起源於漁獵階段，它們很古老。動物神話傳說更古老，數量也較多。不是所有的動、植物神話的神都具有圖騰的性質，只有那些被視為人類祖先，被當作與氏族有親緣關系的動、植物神，才能稱之為圖騰。
圖騰(totem)，北美印第安語的音譯。原始人相信某種動物、植物或無生物與同族有特殊的親緣關系而崇拜之，被崇拜物便是該氏族的圖騰。圖騰主義(totemism)是母系氏族的宗教，也是原始宗教的初期階段。圖騰崇拜(totemic-cult)是圖騰主義的組成部分。…
