陳冠學《田園之秋》初秋篇·九月九日
將收成過四分地的番薯藤，犁土蓋覆，花了一整上午的時間。自己撿了不少番薯，可吃上一個月。那些小孩子們一直沒再來，也許都放牛去了。牧童與牛是田野間不可缺的風景。
下午又下了一陣西北雨，沒有前天那麼大的氣勢。在家裏看書，聽雨點密密地打在屋瓦上，嫌過分急驟。雨聲之美，無如冬雨。冬雨細，打在屋瓦上幾乎聽不出聲音，匯為簷滴，滴在階石上，時而一聲，最饒韻味。…

陳冠學《田園之秋》初秋篇·九月八日
昨天所摘的番薯分兩車出，昨日黃昏時出了一車，今早日出前出了一車。今天又辦了點兒貨，還特地買了幾個中秋餅，回來時已將近晌午。
今早一覺醒來，發現天氣晴朗得可愛，一整個早晨和上午，風和日麗，就覺得萬分的快意，但願今夜中秋月圓，萬家千里共嬋娟！可是一過了午，雲翳冉冉而生，不免十分耽心，生怕掃興。平生不知賭博為何物，此時對於今夜晴陰的關心，卻宛然有賭博感，即一種在未知數之前的焦慮與懸宕之感。不論有月無月，清除內外總是不會錯，因此徹裏徹外清掃了一遍；一週前剛清理過，實在也沒什麼可清理的。
拿了把鋤頭，在剛犁了的番薯地裏挑了一段地，疃平了，鋪了麻布袋，上面再加了一張草蓆子，我準備在田中央賞月；這裏視野開曠，從東北角的大武山逶迤直到正南的蜈蜞嶺，盡收眼內，任何光體從山後昇起，都出不了視界。…
