身為一名精神分析師，我就像小說中角色西爾維婭·勒克萊爾克（Sylvia Leclercq）一樣，既不能把德蘭放在沙發上進行「心理」解讀，也不能采取那些自我虛構小說家的姿態，把他們的幻想當作傳記來呈現。這既不是聖人的傳記（那有多矯揉造作啊！），也不能通過某種模型的格子來「理解」她的散文。我想，身為一名身處第三個千禧年的女性，我要與我們時代的文化一道，一邊閱讀德蘭的著作，一邊與德蘭編織一場對話。這是一場無盡的對話，我與這位加爾默羅會（Carmelite）修女「同居」了十年——這是一場難以結束的寫作歷程。
