艾青·憶白石老人
一九四九年我進北京城不久，就打聽白石老人的情況，知道他還健在，我就想看望這位老畫家。我約了沙可夫和江豐兩個同志，由李可染同志陪同去看他，他住在西城跨車胡同十三號。進門的小房間住了一個小老頭子，沒有胡子，後來聽說是清皇室的一名小太監，給他看門的。
當時，我們三個人都是北京軍事管制委員會的文化接管委員，穿的是軍裝，臂上戴臂章，三個人去看他，難免要使老人感到奇怪。經李可染介紹，他接待了我們。我馬上向前說：“我在十八歲的時候，看了老先生的四張冊頁，印象很深，多年都沒有機會見到你，今天特意來拜訪。”
他問：“你在哪兒看到我的畫？”
我說：“一九二八年，已經二十一年了，在杭州西湖藝術院。”…
