王鼎鈞《講理》
開學的前幾天，楊書質老師在辦公室裏找到教務處的胡主任。胡主任正在皺著眉頭排本學期的課程表。
“插班生的考試成績算出來了嗎？”楊先生問胡主任。
“算出來了。”
“有個吳強，考得怎麼樣？”
“吳強？”胡主任正把那張課程總表塗改得滿紙狼藉。他放下手裏的紅筆，想了一下，說：“功課不錯，可惜口吃得厲害。”
“口吃，我想不會有影響吧？我們又不訓練播音員，又不訓練演說家，我們是普普通通的中學。”…

王鼎鈞《講理再版》自序
“講理”是為了高中學生和國中學生寫的一本書，目的在幫助他們把“論說文”寫得更好。作者為了提供這一項服務，特地到台北縣立汐止中學去教兩年國文，了解中學生的興趣和需要，找出適宜的角度和新穎有效的方法，把自己多年來寫評論文字的經驗心得加以註入和轉化，貢獻給全國的青年朋友們。
論說文也和抒情文一樣起於心靈上的自鳴，它的根核深藏在日常生活裏。生活中有情有理，有情抒情，有理說理。而對別人時理直氣壯，退而自省時心安理得，是一種生活境界，人們為追求此一境界，在日常生活中隨時隨地磨礪鍛煉，使自己能夠做一個“講理”的人。抓住了這根核，寫論說文並不困難，因為你正式在學習作文以前，事實上已經“非正式的”學了很久，已經具備相當的能力，問題只在如何把這種能力，自覺的運用到作文上來而已。作者所以從日常生活的語匯中選取“講理”一詞，作這本書的書名，旨在強調作文和生活的關系，指出學習的方向。－－一個非常正確的方向。…
