加藤嘉一《中國的邏輯》 中文比英文重要（下）
有些中國學者最好不要出於炫耀自己英文水平或顯示自己的學術地位去亂講英文，這是對同聲傳譯者的不尊重。有個中國學者跟我說，他說英文是為了減輕同傳的負擔。對不起，您錯了。作為經常做同聲傳譯的人我很清楚，對於我們來說，最重要的是聽清楚，這樣才能保證說清楚。前者比後者更迫切而關鍵。最好的方式是聽母語，說外語。中國學者自以為是地亂講英語，還說不清楚，這對同傳者來說才是頭疼的問題。
我曾在國際會議上遇到過一位研究美國的中國學者，他表現得很低調，與其他如前所述的學者不同，踏踏實實地用中文演講，把溝通任務徹底委托給同傳。到了茶歇時間，我看到他和英國學者私下聊天的場面，大吃一驚，他英文簡直是perfect！絕對是在會場上說英文最好的中國學者。在我看來，那個人才是合格的參會者。…
