□ 現在確實有不少學者對以前那些手工藝技術和作品感興趣，甚至專門為此組織了研究機構。不過這種收集和整理工作，恐怕有兩種不同的動機。一種是近似於“好古成癖”，對這些如今已成“活化石”的舊時遺物把玩、欣賞，這種動機的背後，也許沒有更深的情懷。另一種則是出於對現代化及全球化的反感，從而對“前現代化時代”表現出深深的眷戀。比如田松對納西族科學技術史的研究就明顯表現出這種眷戀。 …

□ 最近看一些科幻電影，發現一個奇怪的現象——也可能是我“過度解讀”：故事發生的時間經常被定在1900年前後，而不是在科幻作品中通常設定的未來。這種科幻電影中經常有一些令人懷舊的場景和情調。1900年還沒有時速幾百公里的高鐵，也沒有互聯網和iPad；但是也沒有關於轉基因食品的爭議，更沒有福島核電站的核泄漏汙染。那個年代似乎是一個令人懷念的時代。 …
