還沒走到板門，白狗就停下了，並且打著，他有些牽不住它了。
“你不走嗎？你……大白……”
我取來鑰匙給他開了門。
在井沿的地方，狗背上的東西，就全都弄翻了。在石碾上擺著小圓筐和銅茶壺這一切。
“有二伯……你回家嗎？”若是不回家為什麽帶著這些東西呢！
“嗯……你二伯……”
白狗跑得很遠的了。…

蕭紅·《家族以外的人》（13）
他的這些話若不去打斷他，他就會永久說下去：從幼小說到長大，再說到鍋台上的瓦盆……再從瓦盆回到他幼年吃過的那個飯團上去。我知道他又是這一套，很使我起反感，我討厭他，我就把紅柿子放在火上去燒著，看一看燒熟是個什麽樣？
“去去……那有你這樣的孩子呢？人家烘點火暖暖……你也必得弄滅它……去，上一邊去燒去……”他看著火堆喊著。
我穿上鞋就跑了，房門是開著，所以那罵的聲音很大：
“鬼頭鬼腦的，干些什麽事？你們家里……盡是些耗子……”…

蕭紅·《家族以外的人》（12）
我看到一次，因為看紙牌的事情，有二伯被管事的“收拾”了一回。可是父親，我還沒有看見過，母親向楊廚子說：
“這幾年來，他爸爸不屑理他……總也沒在他身上動過手……可是他的驕毛越長越長……賤骨頭，非得收拾不可……若不然……他就不自在。”
母親越說“收拾”我就越有點害怕，在什麽地方“收拾”呢？在院心，管事的那回可不是在院心，是在廂房的炕上。那麽這回也要在廂房里！是不是要拿著燒火的叉子？那回管事的可是拿著。我又想起來小啞巴，小啞巴讓他們踏了一腳，手指差一點沒有踏斷。到現在那小手指還不是彎著嗎？
有二伯一面敲著門一面說著：…
