在他的非学术写作中，他试图将“欲望（desire）”的概念进行再阐释。欲望是某种渴求，是消费的基础。国家和资本为了控制人类的消费欲望，通过各种媒体中的记忆术（mnemotechnics）在人类记忆和意识的各个层面创造特定的“真实”，这种“真实”是为了激发特定的消费欲望而生产出来的，不是真正意义上的真实。因为这种欲望是不真实的，所以会导致自己的意义消失，进而毁坏欲望本身的存在意义，让欲望无法再被生产和形成，这一进程也会彻底破坏资本主义运作的本身逻辑。
这一切正如德里达（Jacques Derrida）所说，资本主义必须依靠欲望才能存在，但是对于欲望的依赖会最终毁灭资本主义本身。…
