孤獨血戰：在定義與結論之間
自小看著張徹的電影長大；長大後，目睹他的電影像一抹夕陽退出戲院。但我也看見他當年的“張家班”諸好漢，好長的一段時間，仍在香港獨當一面。他的電影裏的許多原型，不管是古裝、清裝、民初或現代，換了名字和故事，換了演員，仍然在銀幕上孤獨的血戰，然後壯烈的死去。“
一位導演一生只拍一部電影”？我忽然很在乎定義和結論之類的東西，覺得自己的意識在爬樓梯，雙眼一直在盯著無邊的上頭，雙腳往右邊轉了又轉。轉了又轉。眼前的景象和腳下的動作，重復又重復，卻似乎什麽也沒改變。…

張徹：一位導演，一生只拍一部電影
（一代大導演張徹過世11周年紀念，特別重刊2002年舊作，曾載於馬來西亞《南洋商報》）
張徹死了。
4月間，他榮獲2002年度香港電影金像獎的“終身成就獎”，我寫了三篇文字，解讀自己在兒少年歲看其電影的經驗，月初刊完。
今日再讀到張徹的新聞，竟然是他的死訊。我的第一個想法是，關於張徹，我還沒寫完。
