周作人·日本的衣食住
我留學日本還在民國以前，只在東京住了六年，所以對於文化雲雲夠不上說什麼認識，不過這總是一個第二故鄉，有時想到或是談及，覺得對於一部分的日本生活很有一種愛著。這裏邊恐怕有好些原因，重要的大約有兩個，其一是個人的性分，其二可以說是思古之幽情罷。我是生長於東南水鄉的人，那裏民生寒苦，冬天屋內沒有火氣，冷風可以直吹進被窩來，吃的通年不是很鹹的腌菜也是很鹹的腌魚，有了這種訓練去過東京的下宿生活，自然是不會不合適的。我那時又是民族革命的一信徒，凡民族主義必含有復古思想在裏邊，我們反對清朝，覺得清以前或元以前的差不多都好，何況更早的東西。聽說夏穗卿、錢念勛兩位先生在東京街上走路，看見店鋪招牌的某文句或某字體，常指點贊嘆，謂猶存唐代遺風，非現今中國所有。岡千側著《觀光紀遊》中亦紀楊惺吾回國後事雲：…
