早在1985年,Feifer就提出post-tourism,而後旅遊有三個特點,第一,後旅遊不用「親身體驗」,因為發達的媒體網絡和豐富的意象;第二,不在乎什麽高雅文化,嚴肅目的,「the world is a stage and the post-tourist can delight in the multitude of games to be played.第三,p114 “most important, the post-tourist knows they are a tourist and tourism is a series of games with multiple texts and no single, authentic tourist experience.

p116 tourist gaze and media gaze highly overlap and reinforce each other.

Urry自己在這一章的總結中,說有三個重點,”de-differentiations between multiple domains; the proliferating middle-class taste wars and many aspects of the mediatising of tourism”,而p118 “we ended with exploring the notion of the 「post-tourist」 involving de-differentiation between the everyday and tourism”.

161 the flaneur was the modern hero, able to travel, to arrive, to gaze, to move on, to be anonymous, to be in a luminal zone,這個不具名的人,穿越的空間,是被鮑曼稱為public, but not civic的空間,比如車站,機場。

1880年代末,柯達的出現p170re-made and re-scripted photography as leisurely family-centred performance”.換言之,是柯達「教會了人們如何在鏡頭面前共度時光」,並且教會人們利用鏡頭給體驗賦予意義p179 tourist places are woven into the webs of stories and narratives that people produce as they construct and sustain their social identities (Hsiu-yen Yeh,2009)。 鑒於照相術的「廉價」「方便」,和大眾旅遊一樣,「民主化」的同時擺脫不了「庸俗」的罪名,所以p187 it is unsurprising to see the unproductive tourist-traveller dichotomy postioned around photography.
