我只吃一碗飯，魚又吃了不少。這時已七點四十，你們也應當吃過飯了。我們的短期分離，我應多受點折磨，方能補償兩人在一處過日子時，我對你疏忽的過失，也方能把兩人同車時我看報的神氣使你忘掉。我還正在各種過去事情上，找尋你的弱點與劣點，以為這樣一來，也許我就可以少擔負一份分離的痛苦。但出人意料的是我越找尋你壞處，就越覺得你對我的好處………

沈從文《心與物遊》夜泊鴨窠圍
十六日下午六點五十分
我小船停了，停到鴨窠圍。中時候寫信提到的“小阜平岡”應當名為“洞庭溪”。鴨窠圍是個深潭，兩山翠色逼人，恰如我寫到翠翠的家鄉。吊腳樓尤其使人驚訝，高矗兩岸，真是奇跡。兩山深翠，唯吊腳樓屋瓦為白色，河中長潭則灣泊木筏廿來個，顏色淺黃。地方有小羊叫，有婦女銳聲喊“二老”、“小牛子”，且聽到遠處有鞭炮聲與小鑼聲。到這樣地方，使人太感動了。四丫頭若見到一次，一生也忘不了。你若見到一次，你飯也不想吃了。…
