到正午時我們清掃
完了最後一段路，
在高聳的山嶺邊
在溪流上面兩千英尺
到達山隘，越過
白色松林，花崗岩肩頭，
繼續前行到一片
雪水澆灌的綠色小牧場，
邊沿長滿白楊－－高高的
太陽強烈地直射下來
然而空氣卻涼爽。
在顫抖的影子中吃一條
冷冷的煎鱒魚。我窺視
一道閃亮，發現一塊
黑色火山玻璃石－－黑曜岩－－
在一朵花旁邊。手與膝
推動著絲蘭，千萬個
箭頭的殘餘
在一百碼外。沒有一個
好箭頭，僅僅是在一座除了夏天
就總是下雪的山崗上的剃刀片，
夏天的肥胖的鹿子之地，
它們前來紮營。在它們
自己的足跡上。我跟隨我自己的
足跡來到這里。拾起冷冷的鑽頭，
鶴咀鋤，短柄錘，和
炸藥袋。
