卡夫卡說，切莫絕望，甚至不要為了你從不絕望這一事實而感到絕望。
小查德是一個害羞的、文靜的小夥子。一天，他回家對母親說他很想為他們班裏的每個人做一張賀卡。她的心一沈，想道：“我想他不會那麼做。”因為她已經觀察到孩子們從學校走著回家的情景，她的查德總是跟在其他人的後邊。他們談笑風生，彼此親密無間，暢談不休。但是，這其間從不包括查德。盡管如此，她決定支持他的兒子。為此，她買了紙、膠水和彩筆，在3周時間裏，一夜連著一夜，查得煞費苦心地制作了35張賀卡。…
