《阿加莎·克里斯蒂自傳》第六章·週遊世界（5）
寫這本書的主要障礙來自羅莎琳德的保姆布谷。布谷和當時其他保姆的做法一樣，理所當然地不幹家務、不管做飯和洗衣服。她只是孩子的保姆；清掃幼兒室、洗小傢伙的衣服，僅僅如此。當然我也沒抱多大希望，自己妥善地安排日常生活。阿爾奇晚上才回家，羅莎琳德和布谷的午飯簡單好做。這位我上、下午都有時間安排兩三個小時的寫作。布谷和羅莎琳德去了公園或外出買東西。然而遇上陰雨天，他們呆在家裡，儘管告訴她我在工作，布谷可不大聽話。她常站在我寫作室的房門口，不斷自言自語，顯然在對羅莎琳德說什麼。
我和布谷在對待羅莎琳德的童年問題上意見一直不統一。我們買的是二手貨。那是輛尚好的童車，坐上很舒服；只是難以稱其為漂亮。我聽說童車也式樣翻新，每一兩年，廠家就推出一種外型不同的新式樣，很像今天的小汽車。…
