新加坡的早餐一如進補,肉骨茶加油條,或是半生熟蛋(澆上黑醬油吃)喇沙咖央多士南洋獨特咖啡,非常濃烈,充電足夠一天之用,不管是中藥香咖啡香,能把睡魔驅逐出境。
比起來,台灣清粥小菜、虱目魚丸湯、永和豆漿燒餅油條,偏於「暖」,暖心暖胃就可,刺激不大。
我喜歡埃及開羅小酒店的早餐,很好玩,一皿一皿的是各色豆醬,青紅皂白一如稀便,手撕彼得包蘸著吃,有不同風味。這些「豆泥」並非廣東人俗謂之「豆泥」(差勁、寒酸)。
歐美早餐豐盛但來去那幾款,而香港早餐選擇多,粥粉面飯豬牛雞一盅兩件……還可選太陽蛋、白烚蛋、七分蛋、兩面焦、沙律、蛋餅。不過很少在香港吃早餐,多是趕功課開了個通宵,吃過早餐再睡。…

親愛的芳鄰 Kelly 回返馬來西亞探親,給我捎了一大盒香濃的榴蓮和一大束香甜的黃毛丹。一剝開黃毛丹那毛茸茸的薄殼,看到那晶瑩剔透的果肉,我便不由得墜入了時光隧道裏。婆母在怡保老家那株紅毛丹樹,是我三個孩子童年的溫床。他們爬樹,坐在粗粗的枝幹上尖叫嬉戲,白白的雲絮在天幕上浮遊。他們也用竹竿打下紅毛丹和童伴分享,白白的果肉在唇齒間巡遊。他們的童年很豐富,他們的回憶很斑斕。現在的該子,生活很富裕,可他日的回憶卻是一片茫然的空白。

有朋友春節假期到北京玩,圖天寒地凍最好還下雪。問:「要不要順便給你買些什麼?」
其實好多在香港買得到,沒特別要求。一想:「不如帶些地道小吃吧。」
但地道小吃只適合原地原汁原味,離了故土就變了,也不好吃了。能經歷時日的,必得經歷炮製,方便攜帶收藏。
「呀,想到了,若到王府井東安市場,可買些山楂糕。」
山楂製品有很多,山楂片、山楂汁、山楂醬、山楂酒、山楂糕……當然首選是冰糖葫蘆。說「葫蘆」,主角是山裡紅,又名紅果子、胭脂果、猴楂子、山梨、海紅、山楂果。分南山楂和北山楂。…
