卡夫卡·視察礦井的先生們
今天，一流的工程師們來到我們井下。礦上頭兒們下達了一項任務：鋪設新坑道。他們此番就是為此進行一些最基本的測量工作。他們看起來是多麼的年輕和有個性呵！他們在各方面都得到了充分的自我發展，年紀輕輕就已經無拘無束地表現出鮮明的個性。
其中第一位，頭發烏黑，充滿活力，雙眼觀察著一切。
第二位拿著筆記本，邊走邊記。他這兒觀察觀察，那兒比較比較，再記錄下來。
第三位則雙手插在上衣口袋裏，衣服繃得緊緊的，走起路來身子挺得筆直，保持著一種尊嚴，只是不時地咬咬嘴唇，暴露出一個急躁的、不受壓制的年輕人形象。…

卡夫卡·亞洲胡狼與阿拉伯人
我們宿營在一塊綠洲上，旅伴們都睡了。一個阿拉伯人，他高高的個子，白白的皮膚，從我身旁走過去。他剛安頓好駱駝，正向睡鋪走去。
我仰面躺在草叢中，總想睡覺，卻又睡不著。遠處，一只亞洲胡狼在哀嚎。我又重新坐起來。剛才還很遙遠的東西，現在一下子近在眼前。一群胡狼向我湧來，它們眼睛一閃一閃地放出黯淡的金光，細長的身軀，像是在鞭子的指揮下有規律地、靈活地運動著。…
