早晨當你不情願起床時，讓這一思想出現——我正起來去做一個人的工作。如果你是要去做你因此而存在、因此而被帶入這一世界的工作，那麼你還會有什麼不滿意呢?難道你是為了躲在溫暖的被子里睡覺而生的嗎?雖然這是較愉快的。那你的存在是為了獲取快樂，而全然不是為了行動和盡力?你沒有看到小小的植物、小鳥、螞蟻、蜘蛛、蜜蜂都在一起工作，從而有條不紊地盡它們在宇宙中的責任嗎?你不願做一個人的工作，不願做那合乎你本性的事嗎?當然休息也是必要的。休息是必要的，但…

維廉·巴克萊：不值得
有時候我覺得我們的語彙里最危險的一句話，是用「不值得」三個字開始的。
有一天，我積壓了不少工作沒有完成，可是我一定得赴一個約會。我手頭只有半個小時可用，而我有一件工作一定得完成。
我心里在說：「只剩了半個鐘頭，不值得著手做這件事。」
我們常常發現能用的時間不多，可是要做的事卻不少，我們會說：「只有這一點點時間，不值得動手去做。」
「不值得」三個字的確很危險，因為這等於說，把整整半個小時浪費了。把這些浪費了的半小時加起來，可就多得不得了。…
