前言：兩年以前的春夏之際，我應邀在台灣訪問一個月，其間，乘火車南下，單身一人從台北到花蓮、台東、台南、屏東、苗栗等地旅行了一周。每到一地，就會有一位當地朋友按預先的約定，到火車站接待我，帶我領略當地的風土人情。第二天，我繼續乘火車南行。下一站又有一位新朋友應約在車站等候著我。於是新的一天旅程又開始了。這些都是我的一位熱心的台北朋友C先生的精心安排。我於是享受到一個漂泊者的旅行感受。我每天用手提電腦把當天的新鮮感受寫下來，於是就有了以下這篇一萬多字的台灣南行日記。…
