夢：私我的神話〈Private Myths: Dreams & Dreaming〉28
在榮格看來，夢是“超乎有意識的心智所能控制的一種不由自主的、潛意識的心靈過程”的表現。夢揭示病人的內在真相與事實的本來面目；不是我所猜度的那樣，也不是他所希望的那樣，而是它本來的樣子。………”
但是榮格發現夢的功能還不只于此：“夢能矯正事態，能供給欠缺的材料。………”換言之，夢的發掘是有創造性的。一言以包蔽之，有了夢所提供的必要材料才能確定病史、診斷、療程，甚至找到治療的方法。（《夢：私我的神話》237頁）
