希尼（Seamus Heaney）詩選《山楂燈》
隆冬的山楂樹不當令地燃燒著，
蟹爪刺，給小個子用的小燈盞，
不想再要他們別的什麽，只要他們保持
不讓那自尊的燈芯熄滅就行了，
免得亮光招致他們失明。
但是有時候當你的呼吸羽毛般輕歙在寒霜中，
它會變成第歐根尼遊蕩的形狀，
手上提著他的燈籠，尋找一個正人君子；
於是你最後從山楂樹背後細看
他把燈籠提到它那齊眼高的枝椏上，
而你卻退縮了，當你面對它那黏合的心和核，
它那紮血的刺你希望可以考驗並證明你清白，
它那被啄食的成熟審視你，然後移開。
