虹影《53種離別》另一個女人
你不時會想起她，哪怕是多年以後，半個地球之外。那是另一個女人，完全不同的女人。
這個女人穿著長長的大衣，頭戴黑色貝雷帽，看起來比你還高。她已經過了青春年華，但是她的背影依然那麽風姿綽約。掉光樹葉的梧桐樹，襯托出這個地中海地區不常有的寒冷。她乘火車到法國南部，凜冽的風刮在身上，使她的臉微微發紅，這個下午，日落之前，到達可愛的普羅旺斯。
她是從波蘭來的，在奧斯威辛時，她還是一個嬰兒。一個猶太女人，生來就受盡折磨。因為受盡折磨，反而顯出一種神定心閑的氣韻。你記不起她的名字，她告訴你時，你的眼睛在看她的臉，沒有留神她說的話：好像是叫蘇姍娜或莎賓娜，反正名字里有一個什麽娜。…

虹影《53種離別》朋友
第一次到你的家，那是個夏天。那時，我剛到國外，進入一個陌生環境。當多佛白色海岸越來越遠時，我離你就近了。我從火車轉地鐵到你家。我記得你住在林蔭道，就在林蔭廣場不遠，附近有公墓和磨坊。
我們一起經歷那場大浩劫，沒想到會在異鄉見面。
那是一個老房子的頂樓，我就像回自家一樣，你陪我去河邊。
河上的霧那時像畫一樣朦朧，沒有不快樂的理由。…
