我在漫遊四方時，曾於一座島上見過一個人頭鐵足的怪物，在一刻不停地吃著泥土，飲著海水。我在旁邊觀察良久，然後走近問道：“你從不感到滿足嗎？你的饑渴永不會消解嗎？”
怪物回答：“不，我已經滿足了，我甚至已倦於吃喝；但我擔心明天沒有泥土可食，沒有海水可飲。”

紀伯倫《先驅者》大自我
一切終於結束了。拜布絡斯之王努夫西巴爾在自己的加冕典禮結束後，回到臥房，這是三位隱居深山的巫師替他建造的房子。他摘下王冠，脫下禦衣，站在屋子中間陶醉起來：他是拜布洛斯的全權大王啦！
忽然間他掉過頭來，發現他母親贈他的大銀鏡里，正走出一位赤身裸體的男子。
國王大驚，對著此人喝問：“你要幹什麼？”
赤身的男子答道：“我只有一問：為何人們立你為國王？”
國王說：“因為我是這塊土地上最高貴的男人。”
男子：“你若仍然比人高貴，就做不了國王了。”…

紀伯倫《先驅者》暴行
守護著海達七個洞穴的母龍如此唱道：
“我的夥伴就要乘著波浪而來。他雷鳴般的吼聲將使大地充滿恐懼，他鼻中噴出的火焰將在空中燃燒，月蝕時我們就要結為夫妻，日蝕時我要生下一位聖·喬治，日後由他將我殺死。”
守護著海邊七個洞穴的母龍如此唱道。

紀伯倫《先驅者》聖徒
我年輕時，有一次曾到山那邊靜靜的樹林里拜訪一位聖人。當時，我與他正在談論著美德的本質，一位盜賊疲憊不堪、腳步趔趄地沿山路走來。走近樹林時，他在聖人腳下跪倒，哀求道：“啊，聖人，我要得到您的安慰！我的罪孽已成為我的重負了！”
聖人回答：“我的罪孽，也成為我的重負了。”
盜賊：“可我是個賊人，是個強盜。”
聖人：“我也是個賊人，是個強盜。”
盜賊：“我還是個殺人犯，很多人的血在我耳邊鳴冤呢。”…
