此外，還有研究在動覺信息的基礎上添加了音樂和旋律，來輔助青少年或兒童學習新單詞的發音。這個方法已經被證明不僅能夠有效幫助學生記憶新單詞，習得的單詞發音也比通過傳統教學法習得的發音更準確。
在音段音位方面，目前的研究尚處於初步階段，主要集中於對具體發音特征的偏誤糾正。比如將緊握的拳頭迅速打開以描摹送氣音除阻時的強烈氣流；將手指攏成圈來提示發圓唇音時嘴唇的形狀；用手開合的程度來提示元音開口度的大小等。
此外，使用指示性（deictic）手勢來引導學生觀察老師的口型、發音器官的移動及明顯的調音動作（如雙唇音、唇齒音和齒間音）被證實簡單易用且效果顯著。…

傳統的認知科學認為身心是兩個獨立的系統，然而，體驗認知（Embodied Cognition）理論的出現，否定了這種割裂身體和認知的二元認知觀。越來越多的實證研究證據表明：感覺與動覺的體驗包含於認知的過程中，我們的身體不僅是認知的感受器和傳導器，也是認知形成過程中的一部分。現實生活中的語言交流很少依靠單一的聽說模態，而是整合了視覺、動覺、觸覺等多重模態，故而語言學習在本質上也應是多模態的。因此多模態教學鼓勵將不同的感官模態整合起來，而不是像傳統的外語教學那樣過度地依賴聽說。…
