紀伯倫《流浪者》閃電
在一個大雷雨的日子裏，有個基督教的主教在他的大教堂裏。來了一個並非基督徒的女人，站在他的面前，問道："我不是基督徒。我能否得救，免受地獄之火的燒灼？"主教瞧瞧那女人，答覆她道："不，只有那些受過聖水和聖靈的施洗禮的人們，才能得到拯救。"
就在主教說話的剎那之間，一個霹靂從天上轟隆打將下來，打在大教堂上，大教堂裏到處烈火熊熊。
城裏的人們紛紛跑來了，他們救出了那個女人，而主教卻被大火吞滅，化為灰燼了。

紀伯倫《流浪者》淚與笑
黃昏時分，一隻戌狗在尼羅河岸上遇到一條鱷魚，他們停下步來，互相致意。
戌狗開口說道："先生，你的日子過得怎樣？"鱷魚答道："我的日子過很糟極了。有時候，我因痛苦和煩惱而哭泣，我一哭，人們總是說：不過是鱷魚的眼淚罷了。這話真使我傷心，真是沒法兒說。"
於是因狗說道："你講起你的痛苦和你的煩惱，可你也替我想想吧，想一忽兒吧。我凝視著世界上的美，凝視著它的奇觀和奇跡，純粹出於內心的喜悅，我笑了，甚至像白晝一樣的笑了。
而叢林裏的居民們卻說：不過是隻狗的笑罷了。"

紀伯倫《流浪者》衣衫
有一天，美和醜在海邊邂逅，他們互相慫恿："咱們到海裏去遊泳吧。
於是他們脫下衣衫，在海水裏遊泳。過了一會兒，醜回到海岸穿上本來屬於美的衣衫，徑自走他的路了。
接著美也從海裏出來了，找不到她自己的衣衫，她又太羞怯，不敢赤身裸體，於是她只好給自己穿上本來屬於醜的衣衫。美也徑自走她的路了。
所以，直至今日，世上的男男女女，錯把醜當作美、美當作醜。
然而，有些人看見過美的真面目，盡管她穿錯了衣服，他們還是能認出她來。有些人認得醜的真面目，衣衫蒙騙不了他們的眼睛。
