戴建業：巾幗英豪——《世說新語》品讀之三十八
王經少貧苦，仕至二千石，母語之曰：“汝本寒家子，仕至二千石，此可以止乎！”經不能用。為尚書，助魏，不忠於晉，被收。涕泣辭母曰：“不從母敕，以至今日。”母都無戚容，語之曰：“為子則孝，為臣則忠。有孝有忠，何負吾邪？” ——《世說新語•賢媛》
王經出生貧寒之家，生活的磨難使他為人踏實，迫切想改變命運又讓他誌存高遠，出仕以來頗有政績和政聲，累遷至二千石。漢魏內自九卿郎將外至郡守尉的俸祿等級都是二千石，後來二千石成了這類官的代稱。他母親對兒子的成就十分滿意，對兒子的官階更非常滿足，便勸告仍然奮斗不止的王經說：“你本為寒門子弟，官位已經達到了二千石，實話說你的所得大大超過了我的所望，現在可以到此為止了。”積極進取的王經哪聽得進母親這些告誡？他還是精神抖擻地拼搏不已，最後如願以償做了魏國的尚書。…
