黃復彩《禪的故事》法融另辟牛頭宗
完成了衣缽的傳承，四祖道信忽然覺得一下子就閑了下來。他把一切事務全都交給了五祖弘忍，自己決定出門走走。他知道，在這個世界上，還有許多的高人他不曾結識，他要在自己的晚年盡可能多地結識一些這樣的高人。
四祖道信來到南京附近的牛頭山上，據說這里有很多的高人。這些高人長年隱藏在這座被白雲和青松掩映著的高山上，苦苦地思索著關於生命，關於世界，關於人生的深刻命題。
道信剛走進牛頭山口，便見到一個銀發飄然的老者。老者身穿一件千補百衲的僧袍，彈坐在一座路邊的亭子里，不知禪定有多少時間了。然而道信知道，這並不是一個真正的高人，真正的高人不會坐在路邊的亭子里。
“請問老者，這里有修道人嗎？”…

黃復彩《禪的故事》本凈舌戰群僧
天寶三載(744年)，一位朝廷的使者來到江推之間的司空山麓，他是為玄宗皇帝采集一種叫作“長春藤”的中藥而來的。在這樣一座人跡罕至的深山，在一座破爛的茅棚里，中使大人卻意外地發現了一位叫做本凈的和尚。
本凈的威儀和談吐立即讓這位使者對他刮目相看，中使大人斷定，他所見到的，定然是一位難得的高僧。
“尊敬的禪師，弟子雖然混跡於俗世，但是，對於生死大事，弟子還是略知一二的。這些年來，弟子一直非常仰慕佛道，請和尚發慈悲之心，為弟子指點迷津，救度弟子出離生死苦海。”
本凈說：“大夫來自京城，那可是帝王之地，當今佛門大德們都集中在那里，你應當向他們問道啊。拙僧又老又病，毫無知識見解可言。”…
