陳明發·寫作方式

無限大和無限小的寫作方式，同樣叫我陶醉上一整天。

那心情，像是把根部繁殖的植物削去一截插進土裏，期待它開始生根長芽一樣。

這不够。

還要它枝壯葉茂；要它結苞開花，色澤誘，人日照不枯，月映生姿......。

最後，發現無限大和無限小是同一件事。

The Manner of Writing by Dr. Tan Beng Huat

The manner of writing—
of the infinitely vast and the infinitely small—
both can entrance me for a whole day.

That feeling,
is like trimming a slip from a plant of tangled roots,
pressing it into soil,
and waiting for it to take root, to sprout.

But that is not enough.

I want its boughs to grow sturdy,
its leaves to flourish;
I want it to bud and bloom,
its colors alluring,
its grace untouched beneath the sun,
its charm renewed beneath the moon...

And in the end,
I discover that the infinitely vast
and the infinitely small
are one and the same.

寫作是最好的旅遊。每天一張開眼就想到，會有令人驚奇的新事物在等待自己，怎不興致勃勃？
