文化有根 創意是伴 Bridging Creativity
在產能和品質方面,日本的汽車產業已長期穩居世界的領先地位,但在設計方面,日本車卻鮮少受到各國矚目。這其中也牽涉到上述的文化背景。日本汽車馬自達首席設計師前田育男渴望打破這種僵局,試圖提高日本在汽車設計上的地位,贏得全世界的尊敬。他這個想法,可以說非常有野心。他說————
我認為,在日本人原有的美感中,應該存在著更精煉的領域。例如,日本庭園就是因為石頭的位置和間距恰到好處,才能醞釀出那種凜然的氣圍。(中略)我希望設計時不是將日本古老的美學直接當成風格,放入樣式,而是作為一種「精神」,常懷心中。
