愛德華·托馬斯：艾多斯托普
是的。我記得艾多斯托普——
這個名字，因為在某個炎熱的
下午，特快列車停在了那裏，
平日裏少見。正值六月末。
蒸汽噝噝作響。有人咳了一聲。
月臺空空，沒有人離去，
也沒有人前來。我看到的
只是艾多斯托普——這個名字，
還有柳樹、柳蘭和綠草，
繡線菊和錐形乾草垛，
寂靜和荒涼之中蘊含一種美，
絲毫不遜色於高空的雲朵。
在那片刻，一只烏鶇在近旁
歌唱，而在他四周霧氣更濃、
越來越遠之處，所有牛津郡
和格洛斯特郡的鳥也在吟詠。
