她那個打扮實在古怪，而且難看。頭發狠狠地束在左耳邊，翹起來那麽短短的一把，臉蛋兒又肥，看起來就像個橫擺著的白蘿卜。腿很短，偏又穿松松肥肥的褲子，上衣再長長地罩下來，蓋過膝蓋，矮矮的人好像撐在面粉袋裏作活動廣告。她昂著頭、甩著頭發，春風得意地自我面前走過。
她實在難看，但我微笑地看她走過了，欣賞她有勇氣穿跟別人不太一樣的衣服。

柏楊·為你的同胞多寫一點肺腑之言
三十年前，便有人呼籲：台灣需要嚴正的文學批評！而且也曾有人看上了我，要我寫一點書評。我當時就誓死不從，蓋中國人的自卑感奇重，什麽都受得了，就是受不了批評，一旦被批評，立刻血海深仇。而且"人"和"事"也分不清楚，明明只批評他的創作，他卻連自己也塞了進去。所以，我雖然也知道文學批評重要，卻絕對不肯提筆上陣。老鼠雖然知道給貓脖子上掛銅鈴重要，那可能救大家的命，但誰也不敢去掛。於是書評的專集雖然出了很多，可是千篇一律全是馬屁工。好容易熬到三十年後，一本嚴正的文學批評，終於問世，那就是龍應台女士寫的《龍應台評小說》。她是第一位用文學的觀點，來檢查台灣小說創作的作家，坦率正直，毫無顧忌。結果，場景在我意料之中，一方面招來好評如風，一方面也招來破口大罵。舉一個例子來說明，她曾指出無名氏先生的小說："冗長羅嗦得令人疲倦！""…
