文化有根 創意是伴 Bridging Creativity
世俗世俗,就是活生生的多重實在,豈是好壞興亡所能剔分的?我前面說《紅樓夢》開篇提到厭煩才子佳人小人撥亂的套路,只不過曹雪芹人重言輕了,才子佳人小人撥亂自是一重世俗趣味,犯不上這麼對著幹,不知曹公在天之靈以為然否?
這樣一派明顯的中國古典小說的世俗景觀,近當代中國文學史和文學評論多不明寫,或者是這樣寫會顯得不革命沒學問?那可能就是故意不挑明。
這樣的結果,當然使人們羞於以世俗經驗與情感來讀小說,也就是胡適之先生說的“沒有價值”。
周作人先生在《北平的好壞》裏談到中國戲,說“中國超階級的升官發財多妻的腐敗思想隨處皆是,而在小說戲文裏最為濃厚顯著”,我倒覺得中國小說戲文的不自在處,因為有禮下庶人的束縛。
“沒有價值”,這是時代精神,反世俗的時代精神。其實胡適之、朱自清、鄭振鐸諸先生後來在西方理論的影響下都做過白話小說史或俗文學史,只是有些虎頭蛇尾。
相反,民初一代的革命文人,他們在世俗生活中的自為活躍,讀讀回憶錄就令人驚奇。
