二、家譜內容
明清以來家譜，內容豐富，盡管編纂形式有不同，收載內容有多寡，但完整的家譜，大致包含以下內容：
（1）譜名：為明血統，防亂宗，譜名一般包含裡籍，如《韶山毛氏族譜》、《鎮海橫河堰包氏宗譜》（包玉剛），有的還加編修時間、次數，如《同治九年進賢劉氏重修族譜》、《中湘陳氏六修族譜》等。
（2）譜序：內容涉及修譜緣由、姓氏淵源、家族遷徙、修譜理論等，續修譜一般保存以前的譜序。大多由本族人撰寫，也有名人撰寫，如朱熹、文天祥等。…

中華兒女、炎黃子孫，都有濃濃的尋根情結：我從哪裡來？我的根在哪裡？要回答這個問題，只有依據一種特殊的歷史文獻，這就是家譜。
家譜，又稱族譜、宗譜、家乘、房譜世譜等，是同宗共祖的男姓血親集團，以特殊的形式記載本族世系和事跡的歷史圖籍，內容包括姓氏源流、家族遷徙、世系圖錄、人物事跡、風俗人情等。其中最重要的世系圖錄，即記載始祖名錄，這是確認是否是家譜的重要標志。
