普里什文《大自然的日曆》秋天·大地的眼睛
從早到晚風風雨雨，寒氣襲人。我不止一次地聽失去親愛的人的婦女說起，仿佛人的眼睛往往要比知覺死得早，有時，臨終的人竟會說：“怎麼啦，我親愛的，我看不見你們啦。”這是說，眼睛已經死了，說不定下個時刻舌頭也會不聽使喚的。就說我腳邊的湖吧，也正是這樣。在民間傳說中，湖就是大地的眼睛。這一點，我是早已知道的。大地的眼睛要比萬物更早地逝去，更早地感到日光的消失，在森林中剛剛展開爭奪落日餘暉的奇景的時候，在有些樹木的梢頭燃起了熊熊的火焰，宛如樹木本身放光的時候，湖水卻好似死了一般，就像一座埋著冷魚的墳墓。
雨，使得莊稼漢苦惱萬分。雨燕早已飛走了；泥燕群集在田野上，天氣已經冷過兩回；椴樹自根到梢完全發黃；馬鈴薯也變黑了；遍地鋪滿了亞麻；中沙錐已經出現，夜晚變長了……
