The 3rd International Culture Industry Summit

Cultural Cooperation & Development among Countries along the Silk Road Technological Road of Global Culture Industry in the Future

October 8-11, 2014

The world economy is shifting from the product economy and then the service economy to the culture industry economy.

The International Culture Industry Summit (ICIS) and the International Culture Expo(ICE) are the most important event s of international cooperation and industrial promotion in the global culture industry, and are launched and supported by APCEO and governments.

This year’s summit is held in Gansu—the province with the most cultural charm and cultural resources and the most cultural features of the Silk Road in China.

As a Chinese saying goes, “The ocean is vast for it admits hundreds of rivers.” China will open itself wider to the world, advance mutually beneficial cooperation with other countries, and promote the development of the economic belt along the Silk Road and the Maritime Silk Road of the 21st century so that countries can create and share development opportunities together. With greater openness, inclusiveness and broad vision, China will vigorously engage in cultural exchanges with other countries and make due contribution to the advancement of world civilization through mutual learning.

Mr. Xi Jinping, Chinese President:

I am a friend of Chinese people and I often come to China driven by my interest in Chinese culture and art. However, China is different from what I have in mind every time I come here though I am just away for a few months…China will play the key factor in shaping future economy. China has gained its creativity now. All has to be done is to release the creativity and support it with proper incentive and investment.

Mr. Dominique de Villepin, Leader of ICIS

Global Chairman of APCEO, Former Prime Minister of France

Our ancestors jointly opened up the land and maritime Silk Road 2000 years ago, bridging the friendly exchanges between the East and the West. Gansu has been the land passage for the exchanges between China and western countries, as is reflected in a Chinese poem “The Silk Road covers a distance of three thousand miles; The Chinese culture has prospered for eight thousand years”. It is hoped that all countries could make a joint effort to enlarge common interest, establish new highlights in the pragmatic cooperation and launch new starting points of win-win development.

Mr. Wang Sanyun, Leader of ICLS
Leader of Gansu Province of China

BACKGROUND OF ICIS 2014

Chinese President XiJinping put forward the concept of Silk Road Economic Belt, aiming at further strengthening the ties and communications among European and Asian countries in his speech given in Kazakhstan in 2013. The cultural diversity of the countries along the Silk Road provides favorable foundations for the international cooperation in cultural industry. It is believed that a completely new “Cultural Silk Road” will prosper with the joint effort made by various circles.

The Silk Road (including the maritime Silk Road) was an important route for international commerce and trade linking Asia, Africa and Europe in history.
