[Iconada Research Team] How Education Can Help the Next Generation Navigate a Changing World

Universities around the world are holding their graduation ceremonies one after another. Those invited to preside over these ceremonies and deliver commencement speeches are probably more cautious today than ever before.

The global economy is slowing, and business prospects are filled with uncertainty. An even greater disruption is that AI is rapidly transforming the job market, even beginning to replace certain roles. Against this backdrop, who can still confidently tell young people about to enter society,"As long as you work hard, your future will be bright"?

When **"work hard and you'll have a bright future"** is no longer something we can say with certainty, those of us involved in education in Malaysia cannot avoid confronting the challenges of this era. How should we guide the next generation as they face AI, economic transformation, and sweeping changes across industries?

I have been searching for an answer. Looking back at the World Cup that has just concluded and reflecting on the creative and cultural industries, I believe the creative economy may offer one possible path forward.

Not everyone needs to become a footballer. But football teaches us teamwork, collective effort, strategic thinking, resilience under pressure, and the determination never to give up. These qualities can all become the foundation of creativity and innovation. In the future, what truly matters is not simply preparing people for a single profession, but equipping them with the ability to adapt continuously to change and to create value wherever they are.

Who will take the first step?
