一次課間聊天，一個臺灣的同學抱怨說：日本家庭里洗澡的浴缸太小，進去轉不開身子，每天洗澡別別扭扭很不痛快。說臺灣家庭里的浴缸都很寬大，可以躺在里面休息……云云。

小草《日本留學一千天》家醜
我們和他們都常在業餘時間看報。自然，我們看我們的54321，而他們看他們的54321。後來，關係漸漸熟些了，作為一種了解也不免互相交換著看一看。但不管是我們還是他們，都覺得讀對方的報紙是一件頭疼的事。讀滿篇簡化字的54321，對他們來說，幾乎不比讀日文的54321省力多少，不認識的字一個又一個。他們說：“這樣下去，我們快要變成文盲了。”而我們對54321也很不習慣：麻麻紮紮，筆劃繁瑣的漢字；在我們生活中已不常用，看去十分陳舊的大量詞匯；以及由於讀不慣豎排版報紙，常常得像捉迷藏似地，在整個版面上來回苦苦地搜尋文章的上文或下文……
至於說到日常的學習生活，我們與他們就更不同了。…
