修炼的轨迹: 有个古老的领导概念是，有权力的必须要有智慧。(238页)可是，我们的领导人多是专家，不是哲学家，他们专注取得并运用权力，推动变革，影响人民，以及维持外观上的控制。(238页)目前团体要往前迈进的一个阻碍是，他们觉得必须等到领袖出现，才要采取行动，他们在等待一个能指明道路的人，但是我认为，我们从U理论学到，未来可以体现于团体之内，而不需要依靠某个英雄或传统的领袖来体现，这就是往前迈进的关键，我们必须不依赖杰出个人的新领导方式。(247页)在全球化机构网络的世界里，我们面对的议题，是阶层式的领导制度根本不敷因应的。(248页)
