故事:介於兩次呼吸之間的「存在」

在《故事終結》（The End of a Family Story，1977) 中，納道什·彼得（Nádas Péter）以故事敘述反思思考與記憶的界線。他寫道：

「每當涉及真正的問題，每當需要思考的時候，無法思考的頭腦就會用一些小小的軼事來安慰自己，你明白嗎？但是不管怎麼樣，我都會講給你聽。不過我要預先告訴你，很抱歉，你不要試圖從中尋找任何教訓。故事，不過是發生一次的生活細節而已，故事裡面不存在教訓。你只有找到 inzwischen（此刻），總是在兩個故事之間，在兩次呼吸之間，dazwischen!（中間）。」

“Whenever it comes to real questions, whenever one actually needs to think, a mind that cannot think will comfort itself with a few little anecdotes — you see what I mean? But in any case, I’ll tell you the story. Only, I must warn you in advance: please don’t try to look for any moral in it, I’m sorry. A story is nothing more than a detail of life that happens once; there is no moral in a story. You can only find the inzwischen — the ‘in the meantime,’ always between two stories, between two breaths — dazwischen! (in-between).”

愛墾的梗：

換着音樂來說，就是連周杰倫的旋律都嫌太長之人，千萬別一上來就推薦貝多芬或莫札特，他會當場耳朵過敏，逃到隔壁KTV去點神曲。

現在不是古典還是流行的問題，而是人們根本不「聽完一首歌」了。誰還願意耐心從頭聽到尾？三十秒不合意，拇指一滑，連作曲家都來不及自我介紹。

換着中文書來說，就是連劉墉、吳若權都沒聽過之輩，千萬不好一下子就給他介紹蔣勛或黃春明，他會嚇得立即丟下書，眨眼逃到三條街外。

現在不是讀劉墉或蔣勛的問題，而是人們根本不讀書了，誰還愿意捧一本課本以外的書籍，請過去看他多一眼，他快要變成恐龍了。
