夢：私我的神話〈Private Myths: Dreams & Dreaming〉17
睡眠思考有两种：快速眼动睡眠是故事般的叙事，好像在放电影；非快速眼动睡眠是反复思考，没有叙事。从做梦者陈述的梦内容不难分辩，是否快速眼动睡眠期间做的的梦。由于快速眼动睡眠才有戏剧性的叙事形态，非快速眼动睡眠的梦似乎并未被列为“正牌”的梦。换言之，非快速眼动睡眠的梦是非小说类的作品。（《夢：私我的神話》196頁）（Photo Appreciation: Barefoot Ballroom by Jaime Ibarra）
