郭沫若《百花詩》黃瓜花
我們就是普通的黃瓜，花小而黃；
花分雌雄也和一般的瓜類一樣。
但有人造奇跡早就出現在北京，
人們常常愛吃，卻不大開動腦筋。
郊區的合作社有座四季青農場，
沒有籽的黃瓜長得來一尺半長。
為什麽沒有籽？因為是處女黃瓜，
雄花掐掉了，是人造的聖瑪麗亞。 （註）…

我們並不是什麽“花中之王”，
我們也不曾懷抱過“富貴之想”。
我們只多謝園丁們的細心栽培，
使我們抽出了千張碧葉比花還強。
我們的花也只有色，沒有香，
不管我們是什麽“魏紫”或者“姚黃”；
花開後我們的花瓣散滿園地，
真是有些敗壞風景，增人惆悵。

馮驥才·書桌
我有張小小的書桌。它又窄又矮，破舊極了。在外人眼裏簡直不成樣子。上邊的漆成片地剝落下來，殘餘的漆色變得晦黯發黑，連我自己都認不準它最新是什麼顏色。桌面又滿是劃痕、硬傷，還有熱水杯燙成的一個個套起來的深深淺淺的白圈兒。它一邊只有三個小抽屜，抽屜的把手早不是原套了。一個是從破箱子上移來的銅把手，另兩個是後釘上去的硬木條。別看它這副模樣，三十年來，卻一直放在我的窗前，我房間透進光來的地方。我搬過幾次家，換過幾件家具，但從來沒有想到處理掉它……
"這麼難看還要它幹嗎?!要是我早劈掉生火了!"
"它又不實用。你這麼大人將就這樣一個小桌子，早晚得駝背!"
"你怎麼就是不肯扔掉這破玩意兒。難道它是件寶?你說呀……"…
